A 6th-century Italian monk named Benedict first spoke this phrase. Fifteen centuries later, it serves as St. Paul Lutheran Church’s commitment to an open door spirit, inviting all people into the joy of Christian community.
The individuals and families who join our congregation each month come from all walks of all life, practically every faith tradition, and very often from no religious background at all. They come to center their lives in God and to figure out how best to make a difference in the world.
We sometimes think of our identity as Christian first and Lutheran second – Lutheran being the adjective beside the more important noun that reminds us of our common life grounded in Jesus Christ. As a Lutheran Christian congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), St. Paul enjoys the fellowship and ministry connections with churches, colleges, and faith institutions across America, and through mission commitments around the world.
At St. Paul, we believe beauty is more than skin deep. Our people are our greatest treasure. You won’t find our lives untouched by sin or untarnished by suffering. But you will find people with the love of Christ deep in their hearts. We’re here because we want to be here, sharing the Savior’s love.
"Earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God." ~Elizabeth Barrett Browning
