Mental health movie night: That’s Just Crazy Talk

Mission | January 4, 2016

The St. Paul Mental Health Awareness Team will host a mental health movie night on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 7 p.m., in the Chapel.

That’s Just Crazy Talk, written and performed by Victoria Maxwell, looks at both the light and dark side of living with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and psychosis. It describes one woman’s journey of coming to terms with mental illness within herself and in her family, exploring judgment from others and herself. It also examines stigmas and portrays the resilience it takes to stay a family in the midst of illness.

At the age of 25, Victoria was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and psychosis. She’s become one of North America’s most popular speakers and educators on the ‘lived’ experience of mental illness, recovery, and dismantling stigma.

The movie night is free and open to the public. Popcorn will be served. Contact: Christine Urish, urishchristinek@sau.edu.
