Simpler living, compassionate life

News | December 28, 2015

A Sunday-morning series will explore the practice of voluntary simplicity – listening to our lives through a dialogue about time, money, food, spirituality, heritage, community. Led by Pastor Katy Warren and Ann McGlynn, director of communication, this five-week series will meet in Luther Loft, 10:45-11:30 a.m., beginning Sunday, Jan. 10.

Sessions will include:
■ Jan. 10: How much is enough? Lifestyles, global economics, and justice
■ Jan. 17: Theology for the practice of simplicity
■ Jan. 24: Time as commodity, time as sacred
■ Jan. 31: The politics of simplicity
■ Feb. 7: Widening our circle of community: Journey to abundant life

Guided by voices such as Henri Nouwen, Cecile Andrews, and Richard Foster, explore a Christian perspective on voluntary simplicity as a path to abundance.

A book of essays, Simpler Living, Compassionate Life, is not necessary, but offers a deeper understanding of simplicity.
