Leslie Hunter is the chaplain and religious studies instructor at Holy Family School, in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. Leslie also served Holy Family Lutheran Church as parish minister and youth pastor for more than 20 years in Cabrini Green, on Chicago’s near north side. One of his signature responsibilities was running a boys’ club (Boys in the Hood) where he mentored dozens of young men in the community.

Leslie was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a degree in psychology. He travels around the country and speaks at various church, convention, and community functions. His tools of ministry are sermons, raps, short stories, and spoken word poetry. He is the author of Poetic Remedies of Healing and has recorded a CD of his spoken word, entitled Overflow.

Leslie lives in a west suburb of Chicago with his wife, Elizabeth, and children, Evan and Jacob.

Each fall, St. Paul congregation hosts the community-wide Faith and Life Series. The church brings persons of national stature to the Quad Cities – sparking new ideas about what it means to live faithfully. This event reflects St. Paul’s mission to serve as a learning center for our people and the entire region.
