Parent Education Night | Feb. 13, 6:30-8 p.m.

Wonder why your preschooler won’t stay in bed at night? Why your third-grader won’t eat supper? Gather together in the Library Commons to learn how to avoid stress with your kids. Over dessert and discussion, take away five simple ways to reduce stress at home. The presenter of the evening is Jennifer Best, from the Iowa State Extension Office. Childcare will be provided. Please sign up by Feb. 7.

Built on Christ’s love

One hundred kids find life and love in St. Paul Preschool, September through May. In a community built on Christ’s love, two-, three-, and four-year-olds fill the classrooms Monday through Friday mornings, 9-11:30 a.m. A highly-educated professional staff of 11 leads the way.

The preschool program

This early-childhood program includes weekly chapel services, art, music, language, science, math, field trips, and special events that wrap in family, friends, and honored guests.

The Preschool is devoted to integrating the love of and for God into a developmentally appropriate setting for young kids.

With a long-standing commitment to community outreach, the Preschool embraces at-risk children and offers scholarship support for families in need. A partnership with neighboring Madison Elementary School makes special connections.

The spirit: “Jesus loves me”

This bright place embodies a childhood song: Jesus loves me, this I know. “All morning long, God’s love is uplifted in prayers and games, snack times, stories, and teachers’ smiles,” says Joanna Roland, administrator of preschool and kids learning.

“Because the Preschool is a ministry of the church, this quality program is possible.”

As a church ministry, the Preschool receives the benefit of large open classrooms that serve small classes. The smaller class clusters, with imaginative names like Caterpillars and Stars, make for “a more peaceful environment” where teachers and kids can take their time for learning and growing, says Joanna.

Being part of the whole church’s ministy means custodians care about windows that shine. Scholarships make a preschool year possible for about a half-dozen children. The preschool is an open door into a world of faith.

A joyful place

“When people come into the Preschool, they immediately notice that this is such a joyful place,” Joanna says. “Families linger in the hallways. Teachers take time to greet and talk. Pastors and other staff stop in. We’re cared for. This is a little village in the whole community of St. Paul.”
