Pastor Peter Marty

Pastor Peter Marty | senior pastor

Pastor Marty leads the staff and congregation into life as God’s faithful people. From the pulpit or with the well-turned written phrase, he focuses his energies on spiritual leadership and the dynamic nature of St. Paul’s mission.

Earlier ministries for Pastor Marty included congregations in Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Chicago. Between his study at The Colorado College and Yale Divinity School, Peter spent two years in construction mission work in Cameroon, Africa.

He is the author of many articles and book chapters on faith, leadership, and the Christian life. He wrote a book of reflective essays entitled The Anatomy of Grace (Fortress, 2008). From 2004-2009, Peter was host of the national radio program Grace Matters, a broadcast that was devoted to exploring the intersection of grace and faith in the lives of program guests.

In 2010, Pastor Marty was named “Parish Pastor of the Year” by the Academy of Parish Clergy, an international organization.

Peter and his wife Susan, who works for the school-volunteer partnership Junior Achievement, are the parents of Jacob, a student at Colby College in Maine, and Rachel, a student at Colorado State University.

Pastor Peter Marohl

Pastor Matthew Marohl | associate pastor

Pastor Matthew Marohl (muh-ROLL) serves in the full range of pastoral ministry, with particular focus on teaching and mission.

A native of North Dakota, Pastor Marohl received degrees from Concordia College, Luther Seminary, and Lutheran School of Theology. He earned a doctorate in biblical studies and New Testament from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Pastor Marohl has served as a pastor in LaGrange, Illinois, and taught New Testament at Augustana College in Rock Island. He has authored two published books, and is passionate about music. He plays a variety of instruments, including the pedal steel guitar.

Pastor Marohl and his wife Sarah are the parents of two daughters, Noa and Greta. The Marohls enjoy going for evening walks, watching movies, and laughing a lot.

Pastor Sara Olson-Smith

People, worship, and stories form a framework for Pastor Sara Olson-Smith ‘s passions in ministry.

Growing up in Colorado and Wisconsin, Pastor Olson-Smith received degrees from College of St. Benedict, and Lutheran School of Theology.

Pastor Sara Olson-Smith has served at two congregations in New Jersey. Prior to that, she served as a youth minister in Minneapolis at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Other earlier ministries for Pastor Olson-Smith included the Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy in Russia, and with the Urban Servant Corps, working with homeless youth at Urban Peak in Denver, Colorado.

Pastor Olson-Smith and her husband Clark, also an ELCA pastor, enjoy traveling, reading, walking and enjoying the outdoors.

Pastor Dan Kuckuck | pastor in residency

Pastor Dan Kuckuck (cook-cook) loves “conversations with people who have hard questions” about faith and life. He is described as energetic, creative, and a shaper of community.

Originally from Fredericksburg, Va., Pastor Dan received his degrees from the University of Virginia in religious studies and psychology and the University of Chicago Divinity School.

Before joining the staff at St. Paul, Pastor Dan completed an internship at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Worship is “life-giving” for Dan, who sings and plays piano. He’s a swimmer (and former swim coach) — and he’s wild about galaxies and dinosaurs.

Pastor Katy Warren | pastor in residency

Service-oriented, compassionate, and genuine are some of the words used to describe Pastor Katy Warren.

A Papillion, Nebraska native, Katy has received degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College in religion and Luther Seminary.

Pastor Katy has served as a youth director at a Lutheran church in Bellevue, Nebraska, a hospital chaplin in Omaha, Nebraska, and an intern pastor for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mesa, Arizona.

Bringing to Davenport an “adventurous spirit,” Katy’s passions include pastoral care, hospital visitation, and home visits.

Pastor Ron Huber

In this part-time position, Pastor Ron connects with the most senior members of our congregation, especially those with health concerns or who are unable to come to church.

Pastor Ron also serves as pastor of two rural ELCA congregations both named Salem Lutheran in Jackson County in eastern Iowa. The churches are in the communities of Andrew and Spragueville.

Pastor Ron and his wife Karen have a love for the Northwoods of Minnesota. They are the parents of three adult children.
