The Book of Psalms
St. Paul’s weekly Bible study will focus on the Book of Psalms this fall. The 23rd Psalm\, “the Lord is my shepherd\,” has been called an American secular icon. Psalm 46 is familiar to Lutheran in the great Luther hymn paraphrase\, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” What of the other 148? Are there extended themes? Is there an overall structure to the book? How can these ancient gems of religious poetry inspire us and give expression to our faith today?
