Memorial Garden

Peaceful space | Eternal life

The St. Paul Memorial Garden is a quiet outdoor space for reflection and remembrance, located at Brady and Lombard Streets on the St. Paul church campus. Members’ ashes are buried here among seasonal plantings, rooted in our faith in Christ’s resurrection.

Statement of Faith

Burial in this garden is a biblically faithful option for St. Paul members.

Scripture teaches: Eternal life is God’s gift. Through Christ, God overcame sin and death. This sacred soil reminds us—we come from dust and return to God. Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Community of Saints

As Christians, we understand that death is communal. The garden witnesses to the continuity of our faith community. Ashes are buried together in a common plot, unmarked, reflecting our unity in Christ.

Our living community continues to worship and gather around this resting place, honoring those who have gone before us.

Returned to the Soil

Cremains are buried directly in the topsoil during a committal service. Individual burial sites are not marked — emphasizing our commonality as baptized people united in Christ. Names are later engraved on the granite memorial wall.

St. Paul Lutheran Church members at the time of death and their spouses/partners and dependent children may be buried here.

The Space

A curving pathway leads through the garden. The memorial wall — made of seven granite tablets representing creation’s seven days — is the centerpiece. The cross-shaped plaza below is where burial services gather. Pergolas frame the entrances. Benches invite quiet reflection.

People visit daily for prayer, reading, and remembrance.
