Bishop Current to visit St. Paul this Sunday

Rev. Amy Current has served as bishop for the Southeastern Iowa Synod of the ELCA since 2020. Bishop Current will preach at the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, Oct. 23 then make her way to the chapel as part of the adult learning series. She was elected during the COVID season and is currently making her way around the synod to meet as many congregations as she can. 

Bishop Current is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN (B.A.) and Wartburg Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Born and raised in North Dakota, Amy served three North Dakota Lutheran churches early in her career before moving to Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Prior to her role as bishop, she served as vice president for admissions and student services at Wartburg Seminary. She is married to Rev. Dr. Samuel Giere, professor of biblical interpretation there at Wartburg Theological Seminary. They have two young adult children and two miniature Australian shepherds.
