A native of the state of Wyoming, Mark earned his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and his Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. While his ordained ministry has spanned nearly 15 years in a variety of roles, before making his way to St. Paul, Mark served St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn., first as associate pastor and then as lead pastor.

Mark is married to Amalie (Malie), an educator specializing in band. Malie is currently completing an education specialist degree in K-12 administration from St. Mary’s University (Minn.) and teaches in the Davenport Community School District. Together, Mark and Malie enjoy golfing, hiking, traveling, and spending time together as a family.

Mark and Malie are parents to Julia and Miles. Julia is a competitive dancer, violinist, flautist, and voracious reader who loves reading the Percy Jackson series. Miles is also a competitive dancer, enjoys playing piano, is an aspiring engineer, and loves art class in school.
