Sounding Joy: In the little moments
This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalms 118:24
Thinking about joy within the past year is hard. We’ve all gone through so much, so many unknowns and fear-filled hearts. But our family has been lucky to see great joy. We are all teachers and have been faced with many obstacles such as hybrid learning, sick students, and our affected communities. Our students are finally back full-time and we see and hear joy every day.
Kids’ laughter fills our classrooms and hallways. It takes so little to get a child to smile and laugh. Children are not afraid to spontaneously sing, dance or tell really bad jokes! Their tears also come quickly when their feelings are hurt, they feel left out or they lose a game in PE. As adults we often keep our emotions in check, holding in sorrows and joys seems to be what we are supposed to do. When asked how we are most of us respond with ‘fine.’
2 Corinthians 7:4 says, ‘in all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.’ We are constantly inspired by the students in our lives. Regardless of the obstacles life throws your way, take time to find joy in the little moments. This is when we feel God the most.
